The 16th Judicial Court in Iberia Parish, working with Iberia Parish  Outpatient Treatment Center, has established a successful drug court for adult offenders that has become the model for drug courts in Louisiana.  The court and treatment staff recognize that juvenile substance abusers are more difficult to handle than adults due to their sense of invulnerability and immaturity and lack of experience in "hitting bottom" through the loss of jobs, spouses, children, homes, automobiles, etc. The Court and Iberia Parish Outpatient Treatment Staff have developed a Family-Focused Juvenile Drug Court which is much different than its' Adult Drug Court to meet the unique needs of the Juvenile offender and their families.
