Phase 1
This is the most intensive phase of treatment and possibly the most critical. Within the first 14 days of entering the program, any party can decide to opt out, that is, to discontinue participation in the program. This "getting acquainted" period allows all sides time to evaluate the decision to enter the program.
Also, this phase is most often the time when referrals to detox or inpatient treatment are needed for clients who have difficulty achieving abstinence.
This phase also sets the tone for the rest of the program, as the client begins to learn about responsibility, recovery, employment and re-socialization.
