Phase 2

Phase II clients have stabilized from their on-going using and have achieved some on-going sobriety. They are attending AA/NA meetings on a regular basis and are working with a 12 Step Sponsor.

They have some working knowledge of their personal addiction and relapse triggers. Work on defense mechanisms and the feelings being protected increases at this stage. They are open to feedback and process the insights gained from group experience.

Increased work in social development begins in earnest at this stage of treatment as clients explore family dynamics and their relationships with others. Building trust and healthy, supportive relationships is a major focus of this stage of treatment.

Gender and cultural specific issues affecting long-term recovery are addressed in special groups. This work continues throughout treatment.

Finding and maintaining employment is a characteristic of responsible behavior stressed by the program. Those needing GED's have begun to attend on a regular basis. The work really begins here.

Relapse prevention is critical and a prevention plan is developed.
